TWO COVENANTS

By The Scriptures

For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ...  John, 1:17

Folks; it seems to us that there is an hurtful amount of law and works of the outward appearance, on every side. In all submission to the truth, by love. If one were in error: Would one even pray to know it?

MATTHEW, 22:37-40 "Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

Our Rock Is Not Their rock: Our Rock Is A Living Stone! With a New Covenant; Built on better promises...

(Luk 20:17) And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?

(2Co 3:3) Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
(1Pe 2:7) Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,

Old covenant means old and new covenant means new. The Pharisees also accused the apostles of breaking the sabbath day; because they were picking corn. The Pharisees accuse Jesus through out the gospels. Jesus said...

MARK, 2:27-28, “And he said unto them, the sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.”

LUKE, 14:5, “And he answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day?”

JOHN, 16:2-3, “They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.”

So then the Apostles taught...

COLOSSIANS, 2:16-17, “Let therefore no man judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect to an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days. which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.”

The word sabbath as used here: means; the weekly sabbath day. Greek and Hebrew scripture concordance; Greek dictionary number 4521. From org. Heb. number 7676. And both mean; the weekly sabbeth day.  Do not be deceived! Look it up for yourself! Then what about Jesus saying this...

MATTHEW, 5:17-19, “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the Kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the Kingdom of heaven.”

If one would cut Jesus speech off at the last scripture; one could make confusion of the new covenant , and liars of the apostles. If we strain at a gnat; it may be that the weightier matters are lacking. Jesus continues the same lesson to...

MATTHEW, 7:12, “Therefore all things whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do you even so to them: for this is the Law and the Prophets.”

The lie of satan is to take the word of God out of context. Get thee hence! In the law and the prophets the change is promised. them that do not see that are changing much more that a jot or tittle; they are denying the promise: Jesus Christ. For in the law, and the prophets; It is written...

IN THE LAW

DEUTERONOMY, 18:15, “The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a prophet, from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him you shall hearken;”

DEUTERONOMY, 18:18-19, “I will raise them up a prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.”

Like unto Moses? God made a covenant through Moses.  And God made a new covenant through His only Son; Jesus Christ...

IN THE PROPHETS

ISAIAH, 55:3, “Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.”

JEREMIAH, 31:31-33 “Behold the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah. Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord: But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.”

The Covenant through Moses and the Covenant through Christ: Two very different contracts. Pauls teaches this here clearly...

GALATIANS, 4:21-31 "Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law? For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which engendereth to bondage, which is Hagar. For this Hagar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not; for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath a husband. Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now. Nevertheless what saith the Scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman. So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.

The perfect law of Jesus Christ; in the heart.

The law and the prophets bear witness; that in the fulfillment of the Blessed promise, not one jot or tittle is changed! But rather, that which was promised by God In the law and the prophets; is fulfilled! So then, them that say; the new covenant, is yet the old covenant; are in effect Changing much more than the jot and tittle! They are in danger of denying Christ! Jesus bears witness...

NEW COVENANT IN CHRIST

JOHN, 5:22, “For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:”

JOHN, 12:48, “He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that Judgeth him: The word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.”

JOHN, 14:21 “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them,  he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.”

JOHN, 14:24, “He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which you hear is not mine, but the Fathers which sent me.”

MATTHEW, 22:37-40 “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

JOHN, 13:34-35, “A new commandment I give unto you, That you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this shall men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one to another.”

There is no confusion between the Lord and his apostles...

SECOND CORINTHIANS, 3:6-7, “Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?”

ROMANS, 3:31, “Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.”

The first covenant was established through Moses, many years before Paul was born. Do you think Paul is talking about the old covenant being established? This of course is confusion, because all the apostles were persecuted for what they did help to establish; the new covenant. So then; let us also recall the following verses...

ROMANS, 3:27, “Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but the law of faith.”

ROMANS, 3:28 “Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.”

FIRST JOHN, 3:4, “Whosoever committeth sin transgreseth also the law: for sin  is the transgression of the law.”

If we let John continue: We see that he is talking about the new covenant...

FIRST JOHN, 3:11, “For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.”

You see, when John speaks of keeping the commandments: He is referring to the new covenant in Christ. It is written...

FIRST JOHN, 3:22-23, “And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. And this is his commandment, that we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he commanded.”

The only way for confusion, is to force contention, into the first body of Christ; by taking the word of God out of context. Again, There is no contention between the Lord, and his apostles. It is written...

GALATIANS, 5 :14, “For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself .”

HEBREWS, 8:13 “In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.”

JAMES, 1:27, “Pure religion and undefiled before God the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.”

JAMES, 2:8, “If you fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself,  you do well.”

The royal law? Some try to say (with much nonsense) that when Jesus or James speak the above; that they are not quoting an actual Scripture; but they are meaning to say the lower half of the ten commandments that were in stone. Two points: 1. Why would the lower half of them be called the royal law? 2. They are quoting an actual scripture from the Bible and calling it the royal law: Leviticus 19:18... Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am the LORD.

GALATIANS, 4:9-11, “But now, after that you have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn you again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto you desire again to be in bondage? You observe days, and months, and times, and years. I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.”

ROMANS, 3:7-8, “For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner? And not rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just.”

The lawgivers would not confess, that Jesus Christ brought a new covenant! Jesus always puts them out of business...

JOHN, 14:26, “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”

FIRST JOHN, 2:27, “But the anointing which you have received of him abideth in you, and you need not that any man teach you:”

Any Christian, saying that it is biblical to abstain from eating meat: to abstain from marriage, or that you must worship on a certain day, or that you cannot work on Saturday or Sunday; has been deceived. Their teaching and reading, is so selective, that the new covenant is tortured. For the word of God is clear on all these matters. This begs to be repeated...

FIRST TIMOTHY, 4:1-3, “Now the spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.”

COLOSSIANS, 2:16-17, “Let therefore no man judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect to an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days. which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.”

MATTHEW, 26:28, “For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.”

The testament of God Almighty, or traditions of men? You choose for yourself; which to follow. Satan has deceived many into following a false Christ. And by pride of religion they cast down the promise. I thank God, that you can see the perfect law, in Christ. I say dear brethren, the first covenant came down from our Father, which is in heaven, and the new covenant is also from the Father, that sent His Son to confirm it.

Jesus is the only mediator between all, and God. Therefore, if one should ask; under the new covenant in Christ: Do you mean that we can commit adultery? that we can murder? That You ought pray. For such an one bears witness of himself, that he knows not the love of Christ. And unwittingly perverts the love of Christ, and casts down the new covenant. For you know that the love of Christ is perfect. And we should likewise, be perfect. Truly; the Stone that the builders rejected: is become the Chief Corner.

We cannot stand between two opinions. For one is justified by the new covenant in Christ; or not. Let us not forget the price by which our liberty was bought. Lest we also fall into temptation. Blessed are they that follow the example of  Jesus, and His apostles. Praise, and thanksgiving, be to our Lord, Jesus Christ, that has received all power in heaven and earth. Now the truth and love of Christ Jesus be in, and through you all. The Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, and the Word; Agree: Peace.

PSALMS, 120:6-7, “My soul hath long dwelt with him that hateth peace. I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.”

Peace In Christ;
